Song of labor - Rosakuuta

Japanese: 労作歌 - ろうさくうた

Among Japanese folk songs, these are songs sung in connection with labor. They were sung to achieve unity during group work, or to change the mood during monotonous work. They can be categorized into the following five types based on the type of labor: (1) Songs about rice cultivation: rice planting songs, rice hoeing songs, rice tapping songs, weeding songs, rice harvesting songs, etc. (2) Songs about farm work: barley pounding songs, barley stomping songs, flour grinding songs, miso pounding songs, rice pounding songs, etc. (3) Songs about forestry: mountaineering songs, grass cutting songs, tea picking songs, woodcutting songs, etc. (4) Songs about fishing: boat songs, tide changing songs, net raising songs, net pulling songs, whale songs, beach songs, seaweed harvesting songs, etc. (5) Songs about specialized occupations: carpenter songs, cotton beating songs, tea rolling songs, oil pressing songs, sake shop songs, ground pounding songs, wood cutting songs, etc.

日本の民謡のなかで，労働と結びついて歌われる歌。共同作業を行うとき，全体の統一をはかるため，また単調な仕事の場合は気分を転換するためなどに歌われた。労働の種類から次の5つに分類できる。 (1) 稲作に関する歌　田植え唄，田かき唄，田打ち唄，草取り唄，田刈り唄など。 (2) 農作業の歌　麦つき唄，麦踏み唄，粉ひき唄，みそつき唄，米つき唄など。 (3) 林業に関する歌　山行き唄，草刈り唄，茶摘み唄，木びき唄など。 (4) 漁業に関する歌　舟唄，潮替節，網起し唄，網ひき唄，鯨唄，浜唄，のりとり唄など。 (5) 専門の職業に関する歌　大工唄，綿打ち唄，茶もみ唄，油搾り唄，酒屋唄，地つき唄，木やり唄など。
