Yamada Platinum

Japanese: 山田白金 - やまだのしろがね

A jurist from the Nara period. Date of birth and death unknown. Also written as Gin. In July 758 (Tenpyo Hoji 2), he was promoted to the rank of Junior Fifth Rank, and in October 761, while still a doctor of Myoho, he was appointed as Chief Accountant, and in April 763, he was transferred to Kawachi no Suke. In an official document instructing the selection of the "Ryo Gikai" in October 826 (Tencho 3), it is noted that Yamada Shirokane, Junior Fifth Rank, participated in the work of revising the Yoro Ritsuryo Code with Yamato Nagaoka, a doctor of Yamato (Wa). In the biography of Daigakuju Yamada Harushiro, who died in June 858 (Tenan 2), it is written that his great-grandfather Shirokane was a doctor of Myoho and was well versed in the meaning of the Ritsuryo Code, and that later people who spoke of law took his theories as quasi-legal.

奈良時代の法律家。生没年不詳。銀とも書く。758年(天平宝字2)7月外従五位下に叙され，761年10月明法博士のまま主計助を兼任し，763年4月河内介に転出している。826年(天長3)10月の《令義解》の撰定を指示する官符の中に，従五位下山田白金が博士大和(倭)長岡らと養老律令修定の事業に加わったことが見えている。また858年(天安2)6月に死去した大学助山田春城の伝記の中に，曾祖父白金は明法博士で，律令の義について通じないところはなく，後に法律をいうものは，その学説を准的としたと記されている。
