A former town in Sosa County in the northeast of Chiba Prefecture. It straddles the Shimousa Plateau and the Kujukuri Plain. Rice is the main crop, but livestock and greenhouse vegetable cultivation are also carried out. The "Kiraigo" ceremony held at Kosaiji Temple in Musho is an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. In March 2006, it merged with Yokoshiba Town in Sanbu County to become Yokoshibahikari Town in Sanbu County. 33.31 km2 . 12,300 people (2003).
