Indonesian - Indonesiago

Japanese:
Indonesian - Indonesiago

It is a language of the Hesperonesian branch of the Austronesian (Malayo-Polynesian) language family. It was called Malay before World War II. It is the official language of the Republic of Indonesia, and together with Malay in Malaysia, it is spoken by a total of 130 million people, making it the sixth largest language in the world. The name Bahasa Indonesia was adopted in 1928, when the country was still under Dutch rule, in the Youth Pledge at the National Youth Indonesia Conference, but it only became an official language after independence in 1945. Its predecessor, Malay, was a local language along the eastern coast of Sumatra, but was already used as a common language for trade between islands in the 7th century. It still reigns over the various local languages, with Javanese being the largest, and contributes to the national unification of Indonesia. In the 7th century, the South Indian Pallava script was used, but from around the 14th century, with the introduction of Islam, it was replaced by Arabic script, and during the Dutch era, Romanization progressed, and today Indonesian and Malaysian have a unified Romanization system. The core of the grammar is the affixation system, and its usage can be quite complex, requiring considerable practice to master it.
