A feudal lord in the early modern period. Born in Suo Province. Shigemasa served Tokugawa Ieyasu from 1591 (Tensho 19) and was granted a fief of 5,000 koku. In 1601 (Keicho 6), his fief was increased to 10,000 koku and he became a daimyo. In 1602, he was granted another 5,000 koku, but later fell into disgrace and was temporarily stripped of his fief. However, in 1603 (Kan'ei 5), he was recalled and the following year he was granted 15,000 koku and became a soshaban. In 1607, he divided his fief into more than 10,000 koku, and later established a jin'ya in Ushiku, Hitachi, where he continued until the end of the Edo period. The head of the family was appointed to the rank of Tajima no Kami (Junior Fifth Rank), Shuri no Jo (Office of Repair), etc. After the Meiji Restoration, he became a viscount.
