Jean Hyppolite

Jean Hyppolite

French philosopher. Born in Jonzac. Professor at the Collège de France since 1963. He devoted himself to the study of Hegelian philosophy, and established his reputation by publishing a French translation of "Phenomenology of Spirit" and a detailed research book. He paid particular attention to this work because he considered it an important work that occupies the exact middle between Hegel's early essays and his later systematic philosophy. In other words, he understood it to show the process by which the young Hegel conceptualized the abundant intellectual experience he had gained by immersing himself in the study of religion and history through rigorous reflection.
