Yamaoka [town] - Yamaoka
A former town in Ena County, southeastern Gifu Prefecture. It is located in a basin in the Tono Mountains, and the Akechi Railway runs from Ena City to Kamitoge, the center of the town along the upper reaches of the Origa River. Agar production is thriving in the winter, and much of it is exported. Pottery clay is also mined, and ceramics are produced. In October 2004, it was incorporated into Ena City along with Iwamura Town, Akechi Town, Kamiyahagi Town, and Kushihara Village in Ena County. 61.09 km2 . 5,437 people (2003).

岐阜県南東部，恵那(えな)郡の旧町。東濃(とうのう)山地の盆地上にあり，小里(おり)川上流に沿う中心の上手向(かみとうげ)に恵那市から明知(あけち)鉄道が通じる。冬季の寒天製造が盛んで，多くを輸出。陶土採掘も行われ，陶磁器を産する。2004年10月恵那郡岩村町，明智町，上矢作町，串原村と恵那市へ編入。61.09km2。5437人（2003）。
