Yamaoka [town] - Yamaoka
A former town in Ena County, southeastern Gifu Prefecture. It is located in a basin in the Tono Mountains, and the Akechi Railway runs from Ena City to Kamitoge, the center of the town along the upper reaches of the Origa River. Agar production is thriving in the winter, and much of it is exported. Pottery clay is also mined, and ceramics are produced. In October 2004, it was incorporated into Ena City along with Iwamura Town, Akechi Town, Kamiyahagi Town, and Kushihara Village in Ena County. 61.09 km2 . 5,437 people (2003).
