He was a guest of the Qin's Prime Minister Shang Yang, and is said to have fled to Shu after Shang Yang was executed by cartwheel. In the section on the abbreviated miscellaneous works of various sons in the "Arts and Literature Journal" of the "Book of Han," he lists 20 chapters of the "Shizi." It is said to have originally been over 200,000 words. It was lost in the Southern Song dynasty. However, some fragments were added by scholars of the Qing dynasty. The titles of the compilations that are known based on this include Enlightenment, Precious Words, Four Rules, The Hall of Understanding, Division, Enlightenment, Forgiveness, Governing the World, Benevolence, Wide, Shakushi, Place of Doing, Divine Power, Wide, Stopping Chushi, and Rule of the King.
