This iron sulfide mine was located in Sakahara, Misaki-cho, Okayama Prefecture. In 1916, Fujita-gumi (which changed its name to Dowa Mining in 1945) purchased the mine and developed it, making it the largest iron sulfide mine in Japan. The deposit is a massive deposit with Paleozoic slate, diabase, and felsic rocks as host rocks, and underground and open-cut mining was carried out using methods such as filling-type upward step mining, top slicing, and subleveling. However, production began to decline in the late 1960s, and the mine was closed in 1991.
