A former town in Shuchi District, western Shizuoka Prefecture. Settlements are scattered along the Keta River, a tributary of the Tenryu River. Horinouchi along the Keta River is the main settlement, and most of the area is forest. In addition to timber and shiitake mushrooms, the area produces high-quality tea. Mount Akiha is located here. Get there by bus from Tenryu City (now Hamamatsu City). In July 2005, Tenryu City, Hamakita City, Sakuma Town, Misakubo Town, and Tatsuyama Village in Iwata District, Maisaka Town, Yutome Town in Hamana District, Hosoe Town, Inasa Town, and Mikkabi Town in Inasa District were incorporated into Hamamatsu City. 252.17 km2 . 6,451 people (2003).

Haruno [town] [Haruno]

A former town in Agawa County facing Tosa Bay in central Kochi Prefecture. It lies between the cities of Kochi and Tosa, with the Niyodo River flowing along the western border. Development has progressed since Nonaka Kaneyama built irrigation and drainage channels in the dry Hirooka Plain in the early Edo period. Rice is grown, and cucumbers and other greenhouse horticulture is also taking place. Residential development is also progressing. Incorporated into Kochi City in January 2008. 44.94 km2 . Population: 15,506 (2005).

高知県中部,土佐湾に面する吾川(あがわ)郡の旧町。高知・土佐両市の間にあり,西境に仁淀川が流れる。江戸初期,野中兼山が高燥な弘岡平野に用排水路を作って以後開発が進んだ。米作,キュウリなどの施設園芸を行う。住宅地化も進んでいる。2008年1月高知市へ編入。44.94km2。1万5506人(2005)。
