Tenjingawa

A river that flows through the center of Tottori Prefecture and empties into the Sea of ​​Japan. It is a first-class river. It is 32 km long and has a drainage area of ​​490 square km. It originates from Mt. Tsuguro, Mt. Mikuni, and Mt. Daisen in the Chugoku Mountains, flows north, crosses the Kurayoshi Plain, and empties into the Sea of ​​Japan at the western edge of Yurihama Town. It once meandered east and emptied into the Sea of ​​Japan at Hashizu, but its downstream course was remodeled during the Kanbun era (1661-1673) to its current course. The Takeda River (another name for the upper reaches) that runs along the tectonic line, as well as its tributaries, the Mitoku River (Misasa River) and the Ogamo River, have about three terraces. The valleys near Mt. Mitoku and Oshikakei (a national scenic spot) were formed by erosion at the head of the valley. Upstream of Oshikakei is Nakatsu Dam and Nakatsu in Heike Village. Behind the Hojo Sand Dunes on the east bank of the river mouth is Togo Pond, an unfilled sea lake.

鳥取県の中央部を流れ日本海に注ぐ川。一級河川。延長32キロメートル。流域面積490平方キロメートル。中国山地の津黒(つぐろ)山、三国(みくに)山、大山(だいせん)に源を発して北流し、倉吉(くらよし)平野を縦断して湯梨浜(ゆりはま)町西端で日本海に流入する。かつては東へ曲流して橋津(はしづ)で日本海に注いだが、下流路は、寛文(かんぶん)年間（1661～1673）の改修で現在の流路となった。構造線に沿う竹田(たけだ)川（上流部の別称）、支流の三徳(みとく)（三朝(みささ)）川、小鴨(おがも)川には約三段の段丘が発達する。上流の三徳山付近の渓谷や小鹿渓(おしかけい)（国の名勝）は谷頭侵食部にできたもの。小鹿渓の上流には中津(なかつ)ダムと平家村の中津がある。河口東岸の北条(ほうじょう)砂丘裏には埋め残しの海跡湖東郷(とうごう)池がある。
