Princess Yata

Japanese: 矢田皇女 - やたのひめみこ

Daughter of Emperor Ojin. In the Kojiki, she is called Yatanowakiiratsume. Her mother was Yakahime, the daughter of Hifurenoomi, ancestor of the Waniomi clan. Her older brother was Ujinowakiiratsuko, and her younger sister was Metorihime (Hayabusawake no Miko, Metorihime). She became the wife of Emperor Nintoku, but in the Kojiki, she withdrew due to the jealousy of Empress Iwanohime. In the Nihon Shoki, she became empress after Iwanohime's death. She had no children. Her grandfather, Hifurenoomi, is also named as the father of the wife of Emperor Ninken, and like other empresses from the Wani clan, the existence of Yatahime is doubtful.

応神天皇の皇女。《古事記》では八田若郎女（やたのわきいらつめ）。母は和珥臣（わにのおみ）の祖日触使主（ひふれのおみ）の女の宅媛（やかひめ）。同母兄に菟道稚郎子（うじのわきいらつこ），妹に鳥皇女（めとりのひめみこ）(隼総別皇子（はやぶさわけのみこ）･雌鳥皇女)がある。仁徳天皇妃となるが，《古事記》では皇后磐之媛（いわのひめ）の嫉妬により身を引く。《日本書紀》では磐之媛の死後に皇后となる。子はない。祖父ヒフレノオミの名は仁賢天皇妃の父としてもあり，矢田皇女も他の和珥氏出身皇妃と同様その実在は疑わしい。
