Yasunagata ruins
The remains of a settlement in Yasunagata, Yubi-cho, Tosu City, Saga Prefecture, with a workshop for casting bronze vessels such as bronze bells and bronze spears from the mid-Yayoi period. It is located on a slope of a hill saddle about 50m above sea level, in a complex valley that branches off from the southern foot of Mount Kusenbe at the eastern end of the Sefuri Mountains. There are 58 remains of dwellings, arranged in a horseshoe shape that opens into the valley, and in the open space in the center there are remains of a hearth and a ritual structure. Relics excavated include pottery from around the end of the mid-Yayoi period, as well as a mold for a bronze bell with a horizontal band design with an outer edge and a mold for both a medium-thin and medium-wide bronze spearhead, and star-shaped stone tools.
