A booklet-style commercial print in one or more colors. It is bound temporarily and can have anywhere from a few to several dozen pages. The most common sizes are A5, A6, and B5, but there are also larger and modified B4 and A4 sizes. The term booklet, which is used in a similar sense, refers to a book that has been fully bound with a cover, endpapers, and a front cover, and is in a format similar to a book. There is no consensus on the origin of the word pamphlet, but it can be defined as "printed material that quickly and easily communicates to a larger and wider audience," as in the early days it was primarily religious propaganda for the education of the masses, but has since developed into general reading material. Newspapers and magazines were also originally pamphlets, which later diverged in both content and format, and each began to function as a journalist. Today, pamphlets occupy a major position as commercial public relations printed matter, but they are still used as political propaganda. The first pamphlet is said to have been in 1601, in the book "On Commerce" created by the Adventurer's Company, the largest merchant association in England at the time. In Japan, the first pamphlet was a scenic book written in 1786 (Tenmei 6) by Koikawa Harumachi, the founder of the yellow-covered book "Mitsumasu Uroko no Hajime," which was distributed to customers for advertising purposes.
