Japanese: ヤスデ(馬陸) - ヤスデ（英語表記）millipede

A general term for arthropods belonging to the class Diplopoda (millipedes). Also called Diplopoda. The Chinese names are Ma-cho and Shang-cho. In Japan, the old names are Osamushi (basket bug), Zenimushi (money bug), Enzamushi (round seat bug), Amabiko (rain pit), and the common name Babamukade (old lady centipede). Diplopoda means having twice as many legs, and is sometimes called Diplopoda. They are sometimes grouped together with centipedes as Myriapoda, but the relationship is not that close. They have a long, slender body divided into a head and a body. The head has a pair of short antennae, and some have eyes and some do not.

倍脚綱(ヤスデ綱)Diplopodaに属する節足動物の総称。倍脚類ともいう。漢名は馬蚿，商蚷。日本での古名オサムシ(筬虫)，ゼニムシ(銭虫)，エンザムシ(円座虫)，アマビコ(雨彦)，俗称ババムカデ(婆百足)など。Diplopodaは，足数が2倍の意味で，倍足類ということもある。ムカデとともに多足類としてまとめられることがあるが，類縁関係はそれほど近くはない。細長い体形で頭部と胴部に区分される。頭部は1対の短い触角があり，眼は有するものと有しないものとがある。
