Japanese: 野菜指定産地 - やさいしていさんち

The Vegetable Production and Shipment Stabilization Law of 1966 designated major vegetable producing regions and types of vegetables. These regions are obligated to ship at least half of the shipment volume of designated vegetables to designated consumption regions. When the shipping price falls below a certain level, producer subsidies are paid from the Vegetable Supply Stabilization Fund. Vegetables are easily affected by weather, so prices can fluctuate dramatically due to supply fluctuations, and this was established to avoid this and ensure a stable supply to cities. However, it puts pressure on small production regions, and there are also problems such as reduced soil fertility due to continuous cultivation and frequent outbreaks of disease and insect damage. As of 1999, there are 1,190 designated vegetable producing regions, 14 designated vegetable items (30 varieties), and 34 designated consumption regions and 172 cities.

1966年の野菜生産出荷安定法で，主要な野菜産地と野菜の種別を指定。同地は指定野菜の出荷数量の２分の１以上を指定消費地域に出荷する義務がある。出荷価格が一定以下に下落したときは，野菜供給安定基金から生産者補給交付金を支給。天候の影響を受けやすい野菜は供給変動により価格がはげしく高下するので，それを避け，都市への安定供給を確保するために設定された。しかし弱小産地が圧迫され，また連作による地力低下や病虫害多発などの問題もある。1999年現在の野菜指定産地1190産地，指定野菜14品目（30種），指定消費地域34地域172都市。
