After graduating from the Foreign School, he entered Doshisha University with his comrades in the band. After graduating, he became vice principal of Doshisha Girls' School (Doshisha Women's College), and from 1882 he dedicated his life to pastoral evangelism as the pastor of the Osaka Church for 43 years. During his tenure, his missionary territories included Korea, northeastern China (Manchuria), Hawaii, and the west coast of the United States. He has written many books, including "New Economic Theory," a translation of economics lectures by DW Learned, which he himself attended, "Living Christ," and "One Hundred Stories on Pastoral Care."
