A tributary of the Nile. It originates from Lake Tana in Ethiopia, flows south through the Abyssinian Plateau, then flows west, enters Sudan, flows north, and joins the Nile (White Nile) in Khartoum. Its total length is 1,450 km. Its name comes from the clear blue color of its water, which is different from the grayish white color of the White Nile. In Amharic, it is called "Abbai." In Sudan, dams have been built upstream and large-scale agricultural development is being carried out. → Related article Bruce Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
