Katsura Toubei

...Rakugo performer. (1) First (1819-1874, Bunsei 2-Meiji 7). Commonly known as Tobei. A student of the third Katsura Bunji in Kamigata. The representative Kamigata Rakugo piece, Sanjitsukoku, is said to have been written by him, and was one of his favorite pieces. A leading figure in the Kamigata Rakugo world at the end of the Edo period. (2) Second (1844-1916, Koka 1-Taisho 5). He first studied under Katsura Manko and took the name Nanko, then became a student of Tachikawa Sanko and took the name Mikisuke (Katsura Mikisuke), and later became a student of the first Katsura Bunshi and took the name Bunza for the second generation. At the time of his 60th birthday, he handed the title of third to his disciple Katsura Kobunshi and changed his name to Katsura Bunzaemon. ...
