Chemical grouting method (English: Chemical grouting)

Japanese: 薬液注入工法 - やくえきちゅうにゅうこうほう（英語表記）chemical grouting

A construction method in which chemicals such as water glass are injected into the gaps in the ground to stop the flow of water in the ground and increase its strength in order to improve the safety of underground construction. Polymeric materials such as acrylamide were also used as chemicals because of their good injectability and hardening properties, but problems arose such as the contamination of well water in private homes. In July 1974, the Ministry of Construction issued the "Provisional Guidelines for Construction Work Using Chemical Injection Methods," and since then, the only chemicals that can be used in Japan are water glass-based chemicals (main agent is sodium silicate) that do not contain hazardous substances or fluorine compounds.

地下工事の安全性を高めることなどのために，水ガラスなどの薬液を地盤の間隙に圧入し，地盤中の水の流れを止めたり，地盤の強度を増加させる工事方法。薬液としては，地盤への注入性と固結性がよいことから，アクリルアミドなどの高分子材料も用いられたが，民家の井戸水を汚染する事故を起こすなどの問題が発生したため，1974年7月，建設省の〈薬液注入工法による建設工事の施工に関する暫定指針〉が出され，以来，日本で使用できる薬液は，劇物またはフッ素化合物を含まない水ガラス系薬液(主剤がケイ酸ナトリウム)だけとなっている。
