Slawen Kongress (English spelling)

The first Slavic national assembly was held in Prague, the capital of Bohemia, from June 2 to 12, 1848. It was called the Slawen Kongress in German. It was held to unite the Slavic peoples of the Austrian Empire in response to the growing rapprochement between Hungary and Germany and the Frankfurt National Assembly, which had been calling for German unification since May of that year.
