A world-famous British manufacturer of aircraft engines. Headquartered in London. Founded in 1906 as Rolls-Royce Ltd., the company was founded by the merger of car manufacturer Royce Ltd. and car dealer Rolls & Co. Royce was founded in 1894 by Frederick Henry Royce (1863-1933), and began making prototypes of passenger cars in 1903. Rolls & Co. was founded in 1904 by Charles Stewart Rolls (1877-1910), and mainly imported and sold luxury cars from France.

イギリスの世界的な航空機用エンジンメーカー。本社ロンドン。　1906年，自動車製造会社ロイス社Royce Ltd.と自動車販売会社ロールス商会C.S.Rolls & Co.の合併によってRolls‐Royce Ltd.として設立された。ロイス社はロイスFrederick Henry Royce(1863‐1933)により1894年に設立され，1903年から乗用車の試作を開始した。ロールス商会はロールスCharles Stewart Rolls(1877‐1910)により1904年に設立され，おもにフランスの高級車を輸入･販売していた。
