Yaotsu [town] - Yaotsu
A town in Kamo District, southern Gifu Prefecture. The Kiso River flows west through the southern part of the town, and the area is made up of mountainous areas that form the Kiso Mountains. Yaotsu, in the center of the town, once prospered as a river port. There are factories producing twisted yarn and low-level electrical components, and rice crackers are a local specialty. There is the Kaneyama intake for the Aichi Irrigation Canal, and the Sosuikyo Gorge, which is part of the Hida-Kisogawa Quasi-National Park. Area: 128.79 km2 . Population: 12,045 (2010).
