difference

...When something exists as or is identified as something, it is said to have identity. Identity, therefore, is opposed, on the one hand, to difference or difference, which means that something is not different from something else, and, on the other hand, to change, which means that something does not become different from something else. Here, the two opposing concepts of identity-difference and identity (constancy)-change are of such a kind that it is difficult to define one without the other.
