Year of death: June 7, 1582 (June 26, 1582) Year of birth: Eiroku 8? (1565) A close attendant to Oda Nobunaga. The third son of Kanenari. His mother was Myoko-ni, the daughter of Hayashi Michiyasu. He was the younger brother of Nagayoshi and the older brother of Tadamasa. He was born in Kanayama, Mino Province (Gifu Prefecture). He served Nobunaga from an early age and was his favorite. In the Shincho-kōki and other sources, he appears as an intermediary when Nobunaga gave rewards to his retainers from around 1579, and is considered to have been highly valued as an interpreter. As for his real name, there is a theory based on the Kansei Shōshū Shōkafu and other sources that he took one character of Nobunaga's given name and called himself Nagasada, but a letter remaining in the Kongōji documents reads "Moriran Naritoshi," so Naritoshi is correct. Furthermore, as the letter was an attachment to Nobunaga's black seal letter, it is clear that he also served as the magistrate for the letter. On April 20, 1546, he was given 500 koku in Omi, and in March 1547, after the downfall of the Takeda clan, he was given 50,000 koku in Mino Kanayama. In June of the same year, during the Honnoji Incident, he took up a spear and fought in the defense, dying alongside his younger brothers Bomaru and Chikaramaru for Nobunaga. He was 18 years old. <References> Takahiro Okuno, "Research on the Documents of Oda Nobunaga, Revised and Enlarged Edition" (Hasegawa Hiromichi) Source: Asahi Japanese Historical Biography: Asahi Shimbun Publications Inc.
