...Because the Act is a British law, the power to amend it lies with the British Parliament, and 23 amendments in the 115 years since Confederation have required a procedure in which the Canadian Parliament requests the British Parliament to amend it. With the enactment of the Canada Act of 1982 by the British Parliament, the power to amend or repeal the Canadian Constitution was completely transferred from the British Parliament to Canada, and at the same time, the British Parliament was no longer able to enact any legislation binding on Canada. On the other hand, the Canadian Parliament introduced the Canadian Charter of Rights and Rights into the Constitution Act of 1982, so that the Canadian Constitution now has a constitutional code that is in line with the general constitutional systems of other countries.
