Nagayoshi Mori

A military commander in the Azuchi-Momoyama period. The second son of Kanenari. His mother was Myoko-ni, the daughter of Hayashi Michiyasu. Katsuzo (Katsuzo) was called Musashi no Kami. He was born in Kanayama, Mino Province (Gifu Prefecture). He served Oda Nobunaga, and fought in many battles, including the suppression of the Nagashima Ikko Ikki in 1574. In the 10th year of the same year, he was awarded the four counties of Takai, Minouchi, Sarashina, and Hanishina in Shinano for his achievements in the conquest of Koshu. He then stayed in Kaizu, Shinano, to prepare for Uesugi Kagekatsu in Echigo, but in June of the same year, he withdrew due to the Honnoji Incident. He returned to his main territory of Kanayama and joined Oda Nobutaka, but the following year he rebelled against him and served Hashiba (Toyotomi) Hideyoshi, and participated in the Battle of Komaki and Nagakute on Hideyoshi's side in the 12th year of the same year. In the same year, he attempted to attack Tokugawa Ieyasu's base in Mikawa, and was killed in battle at Nagakute. He was 27 years old. He was so brave that he was nicknamed Demon Musashi.

安土桃山時代の武将。可成の次男。母は林通安の娘,妙向尼。勝蔵(勝三)。武蔵守と称した。美濃国(岐阜県)金山に生まれる。織田信長に仕え,天正2(1574)年長島一向一揆の鎮圧に従軍したのをはじめ,各地を歴戦。同10年の甲州征討の功により,信濃高井・水内・更科・埴科4郡を与えられる。その後,信濃海津に在城し越後の上杉景勝に備えたが,同年6月本能寺の変により撤収。本領の金山に帰り織田信孝に属すも,翌年これに背いて羽柴(豊臣)秀吉に仕え,同12年小牧・長久手の戦にも秀吉方として参加。同年徳川家康の本拠三河を攻めようとし,長久手で戦死。27歳。勇猛で鬼武蔵の異名をとった。
