Kabuki Kyogen. Historical piece. 6 acts. Commonly known as "Imoarai Kanjincho". Written by Sakurada Jisuke, Kawatake Shinshichi, Okuno Sasuke and others. First performed at the Nakamuraza in Edo in November 1773 (An'ei 2). Benkei is played by Ichikawa Ebizo III (formerly known as Danjuro IV), Kumai Taro, Mimaya Kisata and Togashi are played by Danjuro V, Matsumoto Koshiro IV as Yoshitsune, Otani Koji as Naoi Saemon Hidekuni, Iwai Hanshiro IV as Hidehira's daughter Shinobu and others. The play is centered around Yoshitsune's escape from Oshu through the Noh play "Ataka", and includes "Shibaraku", "Matsukaze", "Dojoji" and other plays. The second act of the Joruri play "Irotezuna Koi no Sekifuda" features Koshiro as Yoshitsune on horseback, and the three actors, Koji and Hanshiro, appearing on stage are said to have been beautiful. 歌舞伎狂言。時代物。6幕。通称《芋洗勧進帳》。桜田治助,河竹新七,奥野瑳助ほか作。1773年(安永2)11月江戸の中村座初演。弁慶を3世市川海老蔵(前名4世団十郎),熊井太郎・御厩喜三太・富樫を5世団十郎,義経を4世松本幸四郎,直井左衛門秀国を大谷広治,秀衡娘忍の前を4世岩井半四郎ほか。能の《安宅》などによる義経の奥州落ちを中心にすえ,《暫》《松風》《道成寺》などを配した顔見世狂言。二幕目の浄瑠璃《色手綱恋の関札》は,幸四郎扮する義経が馬に乗り,広治と半四郎を従えた3人のセリ出しがきれいだったらしい。
