A collection of haikai linked verse by Moritake. Published in 1652 (Keian 5). In the New Year of 1536 (Tenbun 5), he made a vow to compose 1,000 haiku by himself, but as it was the first attempt in history, he was left unsuccessful. He tried again four years later, and finally completed it as a haiku for the Daijingu Horaku. The first hokku in the book is "Tobiume ya karogaroshiku mo kami no haru" (flying plums, light and clear, but the spring of the gods). It includes an additional 50 rhymes and a postscript. The style is worded, with the use of preface verses being prominent. By introducing verses that are unconsciously attached (meaningless verses), he creates a world of absurd laughter. The postscript is also valuable as a theory on haiku.
