Moseley's Law

X-rays are classified into continuous X-rays and characteristic X-rays. The square root of the reciprocal of the wavelength λ of the characteristic X-ray is proportional to the atomic number Z of the target (anticathode) material from which the characteristic X-ray is emitted. That is,

It is called Moseley's law because it was discovered by British physicist H.G.J. Moseley in 1913. This can be explained by Bohr's atomic model for hydrogen atoms. According to it, if n and m are any integers,
