Chiyu
1666-1752 A monk from the early to mid-Edo period.
Born January 30, 1666. Tendai sect. He studied under Myoryu and Reiku at Anraku-Ryo-in Temple on Mount Hiei, and became the third abbot of the temple in 1770. He spread Anraku-Ryo and worked hard to promote its prosperity by establishing over 50 temples, and was considered one of the three greatest priests of Anraku-Ryo-in Temple alongside Myoryu and Reiku. He passed away on May 13, 1772. He was 87 years old. He was from Ise (Mie Prefecture). His secular surname was Ibaraki, and his pen name was Genmon. His works include "Shimei Jyugi Shochouki."

寛文6年1月30日生まれ。天台宗。比叡山(ひえいざん)安楽律院で妙立(みょうりゅう),霊空にまなび,宝永3年同院3世となる。安楽律をひろめ,50あまりの寺をつくるなど興隆につとめ,妙立,霊空とならぶ安楽律院三大和尚のひとりとされた。宝暦2年5月13日死去。87歳。伊勢(三重県)出身。俗姓は茨木。字(あざな)は玄門。著作に「四明十義書聴記」など。
