Tapestry moth

Japanese: モウセンガ(毛氈蛾) - モウセンガ(英語表記)tapestry moth
Tapestry moth
An insect of the family Tineidae in the order Lepidoptera. Its wingspan is about 2cm. Its wings are very long and slender, with a pointed tip on the forewing and a sloping outer edge. The hairs on the outer edge are long. The forewings are white, but the base of the third is blackish brown, and the tip is also slightly dark. The larvae are known as pests that spin threads to create passages in wool, fur and processed products and feed on them, and are also known as carpet moths. As they are transported artificially, they are indoor pests that have spread almost worldwide, but in recent years they have not been collected in Japan.
