Menamomi - Menamomi

An annual plant of the Asteraceae family. The stem is erect, 0.5-1.2 meters tall, and densely hairy at the top. The leaves are opposite, ovate or triangular-ovate, and have three veins. It flowers from September to October. The ray flowers are yellow, about 3 mm long, and have three lobes at the tip. There are five spatula-shaped involucre segments, which are sticky with glandular hairs. The achene is about 3 mm long and has no thorns. When young, it looks similar to cocklebur, but cocklebur has unisexual flowers and thorny fruits. Cocklebur grows in mountainous areas and urban grasslands, and is distributed in Japan, the Korean peninsula, and central and southern mainland China.
