[Physical properties under extreme conditions]
In the 1980s, one direction of research was to realize the most extreme environmental conditions possible and to clarify what physical properties would be exhibited under those conditions. This field is called extreme physical properties, and the main extreme environments include extremely low temperatures, extremely high temperatures, extremely strong magnetic fields, extremely high pressures, and powerful ultrashort pulse electromagnetic waves. Research into extreme physical properties is expected to explore the fundamental problems of matter under ideal extreme conditions, as well as provide laboratory research methods for the physics of nature that cannot be reached directly, such as in space or deep inside the earth.
