McClung

Japanese:
McClung
Canadian author and women's liberation movement leader. Born in Chatsworth, Ontario, she moved to Manitoba at a young age. She married in 1898 and published her first novel, Danny's Sow, in 1908, which was a success, and she published a series of novels. At the same time, she was an active voice in the movement for political and legal equality for women through her activities in the Women's Christian Temperance Union. The women's liberation movement in Canada began to gain momentum at the end of the 19th century, but the First World War led to a decline in the number of male workers, and women began to enter male workplaces. The movement for full suffrage for women also became active, and suffrage was granted in all provinces except Quebec between 1916 and 1922. McClung, who had moved to Alberta in 1914, was elected as a member of the Alberta Legislative Assembly from 1921 to 1926. She also filed a lawsuit with E. Murphy and others, arguing that the term "person" in the British North America Act included women, and won the case in 1929.
