Japanese: メダマグモ - めだまぐも

A spider of the Dinopis genus in the family Dinopiidae. It is called the Dinopis spider because its posterior median eye is very large and conspicuous. It is found in Australia. The body length of females is 15-20 mm, and that of males is 13-15 mm. The cephalothorax, abdomen, and walking legs are all yellow or light yellowish brown. During the day, they live on tree branches, but at night they use their first and second legs to spin a square web between them. When prey approaches, they spread the web wide and either cover the prey or scoop it up to capture it. There are about 80 species of spiders in the Dinopis genus that are distributed over a wide area around the world, mainly in the tropics, but they are not found in Japan.
