A platform at the northern end of the Chodoin at Heian Palace. The Daigokuden (Daigokuden) stood on the platform, from which the entire Chodoin could be seen. Among the previous palaces, Fujiwara Palace, Heijo Palace (2nd), and Nagaoka Palace, there was a gate and an embankment to the south of the Daigokuden, which made the Chodoin invisible from the Daigokuden, and there was no Ryubidai (dual-sided platform). At Heian Palace, there was a red railing on top of the Ryubidai (dual-sided platform), which separated the Daigokuden from the Chodoin, and Ryubi-michi (dual-sided paths) were provided on both the east and west sides for travel between the two. There were also stairs at the east and west ends. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
