A general term for gods enshrined in stables and guardian deities of horses. It is common to worship Bato Kannon as the guardian deity of horses, and it is also common to erect stone monuments of Bato Kannon to hold memorial services for dead horses. Komagata Myojin is also considered to be the guardian deity of horses. In addition, in eastern Japan, Sozen-sama is often worshiped, and in some places the shelf where this deity is enshrined is called Soden-dana. In addition, in Soo District, Kagoshima Prefecture, a deity called Hayama-sama is considered to be the guardian deity of horses; in the Chugoku region, especially Yamaguchi Prefecture, Onban-sama; and on Iki Island in Nagasaki Prefecture, a deity called Kusagoesama is considered to be the guardian deity of horses. 厩にまつられる神で馬の守護神の総称。馬頭観音を馬の守護神としてまつることは広く見られ,死馬の供養のため馬頭観音の石碑を立てることも一般的である。また駒形明神も馬の守護神とされる。このほか東日本では蒼前様(そうぜんさま)をまつることが多く,この神をまつる棚をソウデンダナと称するところもある。このほか鹿児島県曾於郡ではハヤマサマ,中国地方,とくに山口県などではオンバンサマ,長崎県壱岐島ではクサゴエサマと呼ばれる神がそれぞれ馬の守護神とされている。
