When the sea level rises and falls due to tides, its minimum height is called low tide (or storm tide). When it reaches its maximum height, it is called high tide (or storm tide). Usually, high and low tides occur twice a day, but depending on the location and the phase of the moon, they may occur once or three or more times. The two low tides in a day can be of considerable difference in height. The lower low tide is called low tide, and the higher low tide is called high tide. On the Pacific coast, low and low tides occur during the daytime at spring tides from the vernal equinox to early summer, so people go out to the rocks to enjoy activities such as clam digging.
