...Comparing 1950 and 1980, the population in Southern Kanto increased from 15.5% to 24.5%, while the population in Tohoku and Kyushu/Okinawa dropped significantly from 10.7% to 8.2% and 15.5% to 12.0%, respectively. Methods for expressing population distribution include population density, center of population (the position of the point that horizontally supports the entire region when the region is considered as a plane and the weight of each person distributed there is assumed to be the same), population potential (the result of expressing the state of population distribution based on physical concepts, assuming that it has some kind of energy that influences each other), and Gini coefficient. In addition, population distribution is divided into regions based on the characteristics of the region, such as urban, rural, and urban areas.
