〘noun〙① The continuation of life from birth to death for humans and living things. (i) The power of life that should be continued, but is limited. Life. This is the life of this path." (Ni) The value of things, works, etc. that continue to live on in the human world. *Poppy (1907), Natsume Soseki, 6 "The life of poetry is more certain than fact. " ③ (specializing from the meaning of a basis for living) Characters that provide evidence of sincerity that shows one is willing to devote one's life to it, or by extension, the word itself. This was a custom that was often practiced in pleasure quarters, where a man and woman in love would tattoo the single character " Inochi" (life) or "So-and-so's life" on each other's upper arms, pledging to be together for the second and third generations.
