...The area over the copper mine that connects the old Besshi and Niihama City side is called Dozanho and is a hiking trail. Nankoin Temple in Shirao is where Awa Ajari Yoshimori visited the copper mine and devoted himself to evangelization. After his death, Yoshimori was enshrined as Nankoin Hachiman by the Sumitomo family. Besshi Dam was built at the uppermost part of the Dozan River in 1966.
