Single twisted rope

...The core rope is made of another strand (Figure 2-a), or synthetic or natural fibers that have been thoroughly soaked in oil (Figure 2-b). In contrast, the spiral rope (also called a single-twist rope) shown in Figure 2-c is made by bundling strands made of several layers of twisted wire in parallel to achieve the required cross-sectional area, allowing the use of relatively thick wire and a long twist pitch (twist length). Another type of spiral rope is the locked coil rope shown in Figure 2-d, which has a trapezoidal or Z-shaped irregular cross-section wire in the outer layer to reduce the gap.
