Year of birth: Bunki 1 (1501)
A military commander in the Sengoku period. Son of Akikuni, lord of Katsurao Castle (Sakaki Town, Nagano Prefecture) in Hanishina County, Shinano Province (there is also a strong theory that he was the son of Yorihira). Childhood name Takeomaru. Saemonnosuke, Hyobu Shoyu. Takeda's invasion of Shinano began when Takeda Shingen was expanding his influence into the Kawanakajima region and the Saku and Ogata regions. In February 1548 (Tenbun 17), he defeated Shingen's army at Uedahara (Ueda City), and continued to expand his influence on the strength of his defeat. In September 1554 (Tenbun 19), he defeated the Takeda army again at Toishi Castle, but in May of the following year, the castle was captured by Sanada Yukitaka, and he was at a disadvantage. In April 1559 (Tenbun 22), he was attacked by Takeda forces and escaped Katsurao Castle, attempting to make a comeback but failing, he fled to Uesugi Kenshin in Echigo. This was also one of the causes of the Battle of Kawanakajima that occurred in 1561 (Eiroku 4). He continued to fight to recover his former territory, but failed, and in 1565 he moved to Nechi, Kubiki County, Echigo, where he died of illness. He is popular for fighting against Shingen, but there are few documents he wrote, and there is much mystery surrounding his father and others.
