An automatic weather observation device that automatically measures meteorological elements such as rainfall and wind in remote locations and transmits the results over long distances via radio waves. The term "robot" was first used in domestic weather observation in the late 1950s for a wireless robot rain gauge. This device automatically measured rainfall deep in the mountains to prevent flood disasters and transmitted the data to locations several tens of kilometers away using 400MHz radio waves. Currently, this wireless robot rain gauge is incorporated as part of AMeDAS (Automated Meteorological Data Acquisition System). Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
