…The Rus’ Khanate is divided into three periods: the Volga period (839-930), the Dnieper period (930-1036), and the Kievan period (1036-1169). The period from the 10th to the latter half of the 12th century is also called Kievan Rus’. Kievan Rus’ included the area of Polesia and the forest steppes, which had been inhabited by Ukrainians for a long time, as well as the Varangian-Greek road and parts of the northern Black Sea coast.
