This mountain is located in Kashihara City, in the mid-west of Nara Prefecture. It is 199 meters above sea level. It is written as Unekazan in the Kojiki and Unebizan in the Nihon Shoki. It is also called Omineyama and Jimyojiyama. It is known as one of the Yamato Sanzan mountains along with Amenokaguyama and Miminashiyama, and is the highest of the three. The foot of the mountain is made of gneiss, and the middle and higher parts are made of biotite andesite, with part of the volcano forming a bell shape. The area around the foot of the mountain is rich in historical sites, including Kashihara Shrine and the tombs of four emperors, Jinmu, Suizei, Annei, and Itoku, which are mentioned in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki. In addition to the legendary song about a dispute between wives in the Manyoshu, it is also featured in many ancient songs. [Ichiro Kikuchi] View from the north.
