1902‐66 Bulgarian author. A satirist who depicted the fate of humans in capitalist society in a grotesque, science fiction-like way. In addition to short story collections such as "The Lady with X-ray Eyes" (1934), he is also known for his reportage works that expose the realities of capitalism, such as "Another America" (1938) and "The Hungry Empire" (1952), and for his translation of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales.
