The former name of a town (Nitamachi) in Nitta County, southeastern Gunma Prefecture. The area now occupies the western part of Ota City. In 1956 (Showa 31), Kizakimachi and the two villages of Ikushina and Watauchi merged to form Nittamachi. In 2005 (Heisei 17), it was merged into Ota City. The Tobu Railway Isesaki Line runs through the area. The northern part of the area is the Omama alluvial fan, with extensive field crops such as mulberry fields, while the southern part is mostly low-lying rice paddy land. The alluvial fan spring area is 55 meters above sea level, and is home to settlements with names that begin with the character "i" (well), such as Koganei, Ichinoi, and Kanei. Cultivation progressed as the manor of the medieval Nitta clan, and it is said to be the place where Nitta Yoshisada raised his army, and is rich in historical sites such as Ikushina Shrine and the remains of Sorimachiyakata, which are associated with the clan. In 2000, the remains related to the manor were collectively designated as a national historic site under the name "Nitta Sho Ruins." Kizaki, the central settlement in the former town area, is a small town that developed from a post town, and in addition to being a shopping district, it is home to a beer factory, and the alluvial fan is used for forced vegetable cultivation and livestock farming. The Ichinokura settlement is the site of a former military airfield.
