〘noun〙① A general term for Kyoshu temples other than those of the Zen sect. A training center for studying the principles of Kyoshu sutras, which are based on Kyoso. A Kyoji temple. ※Shobogenzo (1231-53), Gyojijo "Behind the residence of the monk Kaku, there are Taoist temples, nunneries, and religious institutes." ② A training center that trained instructors after the Meiji Restoration. ※Announcement by the Ministry of Education, April 23, 1873 (Meiji 6) "The Shinto religious institutes will be differentiated into specialist and auxiliary institutes, and the outline of their educational system will be established at the Daikyoin."
